BMTC
On 7 July, attended something called BMTC (Basic Military Training Course) at Pulau Tekong *honestly, I felt sad that I missed my English course*. At first, I thought it was a visit to a military camp in which the soldiers hone their skills. It turned out that BMT is actually the core of National Service, the 2 years period of training compulsory for all Singapore male citizens.
I later found out that the event was actually aimed for 2nd generation PR (all PRs whose children will attend NS), so there were a lot of parents who gave us questioning looks.
Here are the "special" guests

This pict is taken when I arrived in Pulau Tekong [I guess the camp is located in different island so that the boys cannot escape :D]. The buildings in the background are the NSmen "apartments".
This is my favourite banner , hung on the gate in Pulau Tekong, welcoming the fresh men. Couldn't stop laughing when I first saw this. So sweet ;D
[from here, no more picture taking. quite sad coz there were a lot of cool experiences to remember]
The visitors were given a tour around the island to experience more about NS. We were also allowed to try one of their training facility, the Individual Marksmanship Trainer in which I shot virtual target with a real M-16 rifle. Great experience, as I managed to give deadly shots around the head and chest *so proud of myself*
Next we went to their bunks, which are very decent. 10 guys in a room, with bed and metal wardrobe provided. Each company building(200 people) is equipped with one common room, inside : aircon, tv, sofas, reading materials, and...... pool table. Cool!
The medic facility is also wonderful and apparently, the docs there have the same problem with their colleagues on land, high number of sickness after weekends :D
After the tour we had a short presentation and Q&A session, just normal talk. The interesting part came afterwards.
Ms Tan (MOE officer in charge of us during the event)
[to the scholars] : I need to talk to you guys.
Felix : Yeah?
Ms Tan : You'll be having lunch with some guests, please look for your name on the table
Felix : *guests? who?* Oh, ok.
So I went to a big table in the soldiers' canteen. A guy in black grabbed my arm and pulled me to my seat. On the table, I saw something like this

Guy in black : Hey, Felix. Come sit here, beside the [censored]
Felix : *Gasp, Oh my....* WOW! (looked left and right)
On the table, beside mine, there were other cards with names on it. On my left was Col. Benedict Lim and on my right was A/P Koo Tsai Kee.
Here is a pict of Mr. Koo (I couldn't find Col Lim's)
For the benefit of you who do not know much about Singapore govt, Col Benedict Lim is Director, Public Affairs/MINDEF Spokesman. As for Mr Koo, he is.....Minister of State for Defence! You have to be on my seat to get the feeling of sitting in between MINDEF's top personnels.
[I later found out that the guy in black is actually another SAF Colonel as well]
So for the first few minutes, the conversation on the table was like
*eating*
Minister Lim : Come, take the chicken
Felix : Oh, yes, Sir
*munch, munch*
Minister Lim : Here, eat more veggie
Felix : yes, Sir
*chomp, chomp*
Col Lim : Do you want more rice?
Felix : Oh, ok. Thank you, Sir.
But, after a while, I was more relaxed and was able to have some normal conversation. The two gentlemen beside me are amazing people and I was honoured to sit and have lunch with them.
Then, in the end of the lunch
Ms Tan : Felix, do you mind stepping aside?
Felix : Hmm, ok. *what is it this time?*
So I followed a guy who took me from her out from the canteen. Before I could ask him why, I was standing in front of a camera. *wow, great, another cool experience* [but now my knee seemed reluctant to co operate]
I was there on a field, under blazing sun. A three legged camera, bigger than my torso stood still opposite me, its owner slightly behind, with earphone attached. A guy holding a mike was on its right. On the left, an interviewer ready to bombard me with questions.
I smiled like a sheep, squeezed my hands, lock my knee, and answered. Throughout the session, I silently prayed that the camera is equipped with image stabilizer or else it would appear that I was interviewed during earthquake.
When it was done, a deep sigh, handshakes exchanged, and then we all went back to the city.
BMTC visit was over, I rushed to Dhobby Ghout for Die Hard 4, still thrilled by my half day visit.

Mature, not old
it has been 5 days since i turned 17
it is a very special number coz if you minus 10 from 17, you will get 7, which is considered a magic number
if you add 6 to 17, you will get 23, which is a thriller movie
finally, if you add the magic number 7 to 17, you get 24 which is my birthdate
spooky isnt it?
on 24 may
one of my wish was fullfilled
liverpool lost the champions league (i am not milan fan, just anti-pool)
but next, i received my mediocre mid year result
in the evening i became a blood donor for the first time (ooh, so proud of myself)
days later, batch outing!!!
Pirates the movie is so coool, great CGI, n Elizabeth is so.... fantasizing (especially her sunset bathed face in the beach scene towards the end of e movie, i wonder why a kiss on the leg can create such effect?? ;D) though i didnt really understand the story
sadly i missed the after-credit scene
where they are having son
but life is never perfect, isnt it?
eh, talking about imperfectness (is there any such word?) of life
i now understand why davey jones kept his internal organ inside a chest
coz...
ah, crap
just forget about it
life goes on

Like a batman
Aloha, now is one o'clock in the morning, and I have just... finished studying? No.
Reading book? No. Playing games? No. Then?
I have just waken up [uugh, have been sleepin' from 6pm!]
Hahaha... sounds random? That's me.

The most DISGUSTING thing in the world at this moment
They are RED
They are SLIMY and SLIPPERY
They are SOFT
They STINKS
What is that?
Lets call them "something"
Guess what?
That "something" is edible!
But let me assure you that the stew of that "something" is the last item you expect your mother to cook
They are simply DISGUSTING - in any given condition
Trust me
Now,
What's worse than the thing? [uugh, is there any?]
YES
The answer is a LOT of that "something"
Quite a number that you might think that you could actually swim in it
That filthy object is called LIVERpool [ok, you may puke now]

HAPPYYY
I
AM
SO
HAPPY
That's all I could say
This morning I unbelievably managed to finish ALL sections in my SS paper, although the quality of the answers are still questionable :D
But most importantly, I did it
Then just now
after struggling for hours with my new-second-hand camera
with all the delicate wires, connectors, and bolts
and to taste the electric force of a 300V electrolyte capasitor
I finally succeed in modifying it with a simple but useful "filter"
(it is a pity that I screwed up the LCD, otherwise it could be perfect...)
I am ready to test it on the field [smile meaningfully from ear to ear]
I officially want to thank HELiX for his brilliant idea

Inertia
Ok, here I am, in my room in front of my laptop. I have just waken up an hour ago(around nine plus).
Why so late? Coz i have no exam today(horaay).
Another reason? Coz i started to doze at about five in the morning.
Is mugging the reason? You bet, Chelsea played Liverpool in the Champions League Semifinal, and there is no way I am going to miss that, even during the midyear exam; especially when my pride is at stake(only boys can understand this). So I watched the game, bitting my lips and praying for 90 minutes, but in the end, I managed to sleep with smile. Yeah, one-nil for Chelsea.
So, whats next? A lot.
I already told you I am in the middle of midyear exam, and tomorrow I am going to have social studies paper. Honestly, I have NOT revised anything.
Over confident? Yeah right... Let me tell you something. My first SS test in Sec4 gave me two over... twenty and my last reliability exercise came out to be one over seven. If you think that the marks are low, please be reminded that SS is a combined subject, together with the *#*&#$ Literature(oops, it seems that Blooger has bad words filter), and I think you can guess my marks. Therefore, after following my dear teacher's advice to "think about it", I have decided to apply a new learning strategy called "The Heck-Care Way", and yes, I WILL do it.
So for all my friends out there, follow my path. Come to the bright side of the force. Why suffocate our brain with S-country history, when we are NOT even the S-country citizen?!? And who cares about a writer's imagination about what happened to Scotland in the past?? They all lived in the age of kings when killing for power is not uncommon. STOP wasting time to decide who's right and who's wrong!!! One more thing, a prose or a poem is written to be enjoyed by READING it, not by ANALYSING it. So I just want to tell the spirit of "bright people" who came out with the idea of studying literature (you all should be in grave by now, shouldn't you) that you have done much MORE damage to my brain than a nuclear radiation of an atomic bomb. Hope you rest in peace...
Ok, now is the end of my post. Maybe you find that the title is a bit out of topic, dont you? It is actually not. This whole post is just my jutification for not studying, coz I found it really HARD to START. Same thing happens with inertia, the tendency of an object to continue moving if it is in motion, or for an object to START moving if it is at REST.
Now you know.
